SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 27

Congratulating the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine on the occasion of its twenty-fifth anniversary.

Whereas, Chartered in 1972, the Greenbrier College of Osteopathic Medicine, the nation's eighth Osteopathic Medical College, was later renamed the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and changed from a private to public institution; and
Whereas, The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, after having graduated more than one thousand physicians, is dedicated to providing the finest family physicians for West Virginia; and
Whereas, With ninety-one percent of the graduates of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine remaining in the state, nearly one hundred West Virginia communities have graduates practicing in primary care medicine; and
Whereas, The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine has proven itself to be a strong and indispensable member of West Virginia's higher education system and is accredited by the Bureau of Professional Education of the American Osteopathic Association; and
Whereas, The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine assists in the economic development of West Virginia through the expertise of its faculty, students and staff. The faculty
s's professionalism and dedication to teaching of the faculty prepares its students for life-long careers of service and learning for the betterment of the people of West Virginia; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby congratulates the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine on the occasion of its twenty-fifthve anniversary years and an institution of high medical learning; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate extends its appreciation to the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine for its commitment and dedication to West Virginia's health care and the betterment of our citizens; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the appropriate representatives of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine.
